About us

This website has been created by the team behind the Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook, the bestselling writers’ guide. It is published by A&C Black, the company that was founded in 1807 and is perhaps best known for Who’s Who and Whitaker’s Almanack.

The Yearbook has been the indispensable companion for artists and writers for over a century (the first edition was printed in 1906) and we continue to revise and update it annually. It’s packed with practical and comprehensive articles, as well as more than 5,000 listings which serve writers and artists of all kinds. Our contributors are superbly talented, and all of them have a soft spot for the publication - often because it helped them embark on their own career. All of the following make an appearance in the pages of the 2010 edition:

  • Kate Mosse
  • Joanna Trollope
  • Terry Pratchett
  • Mark Billingham
  • Jane Green
  • Bernard Cornwell
  • Claire Tomalin
  • Neil Gaiman
  • William Bloom
  • William Dalrymple
  • J.K. Rowling
  • Benjamin Zephaniah
  • Andrew Davies
  • Maggie Gee
  • Simon Winchester
  • Isabel Losada

…and many others.

This site is intended to be a vibrant community for writers and artists across the world. Enjoy using it, and do get hold of your 2010 Yearbook before it sells out.
